You find yourself evading vampire hunters, engaging in combat, and receiving tutorial tips on gameplay. The graphics are satisfactory, and the depiction of London in 1918 is exceptionally well-executed. Initially, the game immediately captivated me. Not being able to change the difficulty mid-campaign means this game will unfortunately remain uncompleted in my library. I was miserable fighting every single major plot required boss save for one, and it got exponentially more tedious, annoying, and frustrating with each subsequent major encounter. The combat is serviceable in the moment to moment gameplay, but the bosses rank amongst some of the most poorly designed I've seen in a long time. ![]() This isn't a choice on the player's part, you are absolutely forced into killing a massive quantity of NPCs (and thus, destroying their content) in order to not be three shot killed by a three hit combo from poorly designed bosses. Every step the game ramps up the strength of enemies you are expected to face drastically while not giving you even half the XP you need to even be reasonable under-leveled to face them. I was under-leveled for every single boss before hand, but I had to give up after over a hundred attempts involving different strategies, equipment loadouts, and playstyles, I am still facing a boss 7 levels higher even after having done every single piece of side content in the game I can currently access, along with several hours of mindless grinding.įor most players, a 'no bite' play-through is simply not possible. ![]() The game expected on my normal difficulty play-through for me to have slaughtered at least a dozen NPCs to be the proper level to face a boss. ![]() The choices consequences made little sense and were very unpredictable, I managed to make absolutely every wrong choice that severely crippled my game because I wanted not to kill. The atmosphere and most of the character writing of this game are great, I enjoyed walking the streets to see the world the developers had created. ![]()
